The Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) was reporting this morning 2,355 new cases of COVID-19 over the last 72 hours (1,011 new cases on Friday), to bring the total so far to 62,907, up from 60,598 on Friday.

ISDH reported 934 new cases on Saturday; 860 on Sunday; and 561 today.

Friday's 1,011 new cases represents a new-one day high, breaking the record set only one day before, on Thursday, July 23, when ISDH reported 954 new cases. The previous one-day high was 946 on April 26.

ISDH was also reporting 22 additional COVID-19 deaths over the last 72 hours (four additional deaths on Friday), to bring the total to date to 2,912, up from 2,890 on Friday.

Meanwhile, ISDH appears to have stopped reporting total cases and total deaths in nursing homes.

Marion County has the most reported cases, 13,818 (13,245 on Thursday); and the most deaths, 713 (711). Lake County has reported 6,731 cases (6,469) and 265 deaths (259), the second highest in the state in both categories. LaPorte County has reported 760 cases and 29 deaths (715 and 28).

The total COVID-19 death count includes both confirmed and presumptive deaths to date. Presumptive deaths are those for which x-ray, scans, and clinical symptoms all point to COVID-19 but for which no positive test is on record. A total of 197 presumptive deaths was reported today, unchanged from Friday.
