Indiana C19 case count nears 25,000

The Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) was reporting this morning 1,481 new COVID-19 cases over the weekend, to bring total confirmed cases in the state to 24,627 up from 23,146 on Friday, an increase of 6.4 percent over the last 72 hours.

ISDH reported 606 new cases on Saturday, 402 on Sunday, and 511 today.

ISDH was also reporting 83 additional deaths over the weekend, to bring the total in the state so far to 1,411, up from 1,328 on Friday, an increase of 6.3 percent over the last 72 hours.

ISDH reported 34 new deaths on Saturday, 17 on Sunday, and 32 today.

The number of probable COVID-19 death to date: 129. Probable deaths are those for which x-ray, scans, and clinical symptoms all point to COVID-19 but for which no positive test is on record. Total confirmed and probable COVID-19 deaths Indiana: 1,540 (1,447 on Friday).

Nursing home cases and deaths to date: 3,033 (2,316 on Friday, 584 deaths (420). Number of nursing home facilities in the state with at least one case of COVID-19: 197 (173 on Friday). Number with at least one death: 121 (105)

Meanwhile, 146,688 tests have been reported to date to ISDH, up from 130,128 an increase of 5 percent over the last 72 hours, with a positive rate of 16.8 percent. Tests are being conducted by ISDH, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and private laboratories.

Tests in Porter County: 2,487 (2,266 on Friday). In Lake County: 13,283 (11,662). In LaPorte County: 2,079 1,845 (1,845).

Marion County has the most reported cases, 7,510 (7,078 on Friday); and the most deaths, 423 (403). Lake County has reported 2,493 cases (2,359) and 125 deaths (118), the second highest in the state in both categories. LaPorte County has reported 329 and 12 deaths (307 and 11).
