Help reach grant match goal for Jo Winey Babcock Memorial Fund

Back To Front Page

Jo Winey Babcock was an integral part of the Duneland communities as a former Duneland School Corporation teacher, Duneland YMCA Lifeguard, Aquatics Director and member of the Board of Directors. She was passionate about helping local children grow into strong adults.

To honor her memory, the Jo Winey Babcock Memorial Endowment was created, and the Duneland YMCA was chosen to participate in the Porter County Community Foundationís (PCCF) Agency Matching Grant Program to help fund it. Through the communityís generosity, the initial fund of $50,000 has been met and will be matched dollar for dollar by PCCF. If an additional $10,000 is donated, PCCF has offered another $10,000 in matching funds. This means the Jo Winey Babcock Memorial Endowment will total $120,000. The principal of the endowment fund can never be spent, but the earnings from the endowment will help families participate in Y programs and services for years to come.

The period to qualify for the matching fund expires on March 31, 2018. Please help reach the new endowment goal by donating to this perpetual tribute to Jo Winey Babcock.

Each gift is tax deductible. Checks made payable to the Porter County Community Foundation (PCCF) can be mailed to the Duneland Family YMCA, 215 Roosevelt St., Chesterton, IN, 46304, or dropped off at the Y Welcome Center.

For information, contact Y CEO Dave Kasarda at (219) 926-4204. The Duneland Family YMCA is a charitable nonprofit focusing on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
