Fundraiser February 26 to help Gland family

Back To Front Page

A spaghetti dinner fundraiser to benefit Patricia Gland, whose house was severely damaged by fire, will be held at the VFW Post 2511, 1290 Wagner Rd, Porter, from noon until 6 p.m. on Sunday, February 26. Cost is $10 per person.

This will be a family friendly event. The afternoon will include live entertainment by Peter Nye & the New Blades of Grass, raffles, 50/50 drawing, a silent auction, bake sale and a cash bar along with the pasta dinner.

Doors will open at noon and guests will be able to view the silent auction items, purchase raffle tickets and bake sale items. The spaghetti dinner, which includes a salad and garlic bread, will be served from 1 to 4 p.m. The music of Peter Nye & the New Blades of Grass will begin at 3 p.m. and continue until 6 p.m. The silent auction will begin at noon and will continue until 5 p.m.

All proceeds of this event will go to Patricia Gland. Many in the Duneland community know Pat, as she has been an active community member, and was a bus driver for Duneland Schools for 37 years. She lost her husband Jack this past November. On January 13, 2017, her home was damaged by an electrical fire. Much of the house sustained severe water and smoke damage and will have to be repaired. Many household appliances and other items were lost as well.

Tickets can be purchased at the door or in advance at VFW Post 2511 in Porter.

For more information, to make a donation, or to purchase tickets in advance please contact Deanna Pokorney at (219) 614-2625, or Rose Pomeroy (219) 241-1863.
