The Porter County
Health Department was reporting this morning 14 new COVID-19 cases over the
last 24 hours (13 new cases on Thursday), to bring the total so far to 926,
up from 912 on Thursday.
Of those 14 new
cases, 11--or 79 percent--were diagnosed among the younger demographics:
four in the 0-19 (70 total); two in the 20-29 (182 total); four in the 30-39
(148 total); and one in the 40-49 (150 total).
To date, COVID-19
has been diagnosed in 70 children or teens in Porter County, or 7.6 percent
of all cases.

recovered, up from 706 on Thursday. Total active cases right now In Porter
deaths were reported today. So far a total of 39 patients have died of
COVID-19 in Porter County.
Chesterton Tribune has been reporting, the surge in new COVID-19 cases
over the last four weeks and into this week has not been accompanied by an
increase either in hospitalizations or in deaths.
To date, 101 cases
of COVID-19 have been reported in Porter County’s long-term care facilities,
27 have died, no one is currently hospitalized, and 73 have recovered, all
unchanged from Thursday.

The Indiana State
Department of Health (ISDH) was reporting this morning 747 new cases of
COVID-19 over the last 24 hours (735 new cases on Thursday), to bring the
total so far to 54,813, up from 54,080 on Thursday.
ISDH was also
reporting eight additional COVID-19 deaths (10 additional deaths on
Thursday), to bring the total to date to 2,807, up from 2,799 on Thursday.
Although new cases in Indiana are currently surging, there has been no
accompanying spike in deaths.
Nursing home cases
and deaths to date: 5,695 cases and 1,245 deaths (unchanged from Thursday).
Marion County has
the most reported cases, 12,484 (12,361 on Thursday); and the most deaths,
702 (701). Lake County has reported 5,983 cases (5,919) and 252 deaths
(252), the second highest in the state in both categories. LaPorte County
has reported 670 cases and 28 deaths (658 and 28).
The total COVID-19
death count includes both confirmed and presumptive deaths to date.
Presumptive deaths are those for which x-ray, scans, and clinical symptoms
all point to COVID-19 but for which no positive test is on record. A total
of 193 presumptive deaths was reported today, unchanged from Thursday.
