Five more virus cases in the Duneland Schools

Three more Chesterton High School students and two CHS staffers tested positive for COVID-19 over the weekend, the Duneland School Corporation (DSC) is reporting.

A CHS remote student tested positive on Friday morning. Number of close contacts identified: two.

Two more CHS students tested positive on Friday afternoon. Number of close contacts: four for one of them; 13 for the other.

On Saturday morning a CHS staffer tested positive, with six close contacts identified. On Saturday afternoon another staffer tested positive, with no close contacts identified.

All close contacts will be quarantined for 14 days.

“Please be aware that privacy laws, including HIPAA and FERPA, prevent us from sharing further information regarding students and staff,” DSC said.

According to the Chesterton Tribune’s records, 45 DSC in-person students or staffers have tested positive since classes began:

-- Chesterton High School: 23 students; two staffers.

-- Chesterton Middle School: four students.

-- Westchester Intermediate School: two students; one staffer.

-- Liberty Elementary: two students.

-- Liberty Intermediate: three staffers.

-- Yost Elementary: two students; one staffer.

-- Bailly Elementary: three students.

-- Jackson Elementary: one student.

-- Brummitt Elementary: one student.
