The Porter County Health Department is reporting the first confirmed case of COVID-19 in the county.

“A family of three living within close quarters has one positive test result and potentially two addtional positive cases pending,” the Health Department reported today.

One of the family members is being treated for symptoms at an unspecified health facility while the other two are self-isolating at home. Both of the two in quarantine are being contacted twice daily by Health Department officials monitoring their condition for deterioration.

“The Porter County Health Department is working closely with state officials to ensure that contacts of the patient are identified and monitored and that all infection protocols are being followed.”

The Health Department, citing “privacy laws,” said that no additional information about the individuals would be released.

Meanwhile, the Indiana State Department of Health reported 107 new positive COVID-19 cases over the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 365. Five more deaths have been reported, with a total to date of 12.

Also: a total of 2,931 tests for COVID-19 have been conducted, up from 1,960 on Monday.

Marion County has the most cases, with 51.
