Fire department annual Lights and Sirens Parade Saturday, October 12

Back To Front Page

The Chesterton Fire Department will kick off National Fire Prevention Week--Oct. 6-12--with its second annual Lights & Sirens Public Safety Parade, at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12.

And you might want to bring ear plugs.

Seriously. The CFD is suggesting that those with sensitive hearing bring ear plugs, because fire engines, squad cars, and ambulances of all types from across Northwest Indiana will be participating, and sirening.

The parade will start from the CFD station at Broadway and Eighth Street, go east on Broadway to South Calumet Road, then south to West Porter Ave., then west to Eighth Street, then north on Eighth Street and back to the station.

Then, following the parade--say starting around 10:30-ish and until 2 p.m.--the CFD will hold its annual Fire Prevention Open House at the station.
