Eight new C19 cases in county since Thursday

The Porter County Health Department was reporting this morning eight new COVID-19 cases over the last four days (two new cases on Thursday), to bring the total so far to 602, up from 594 on Thursday.

The Health Department reported five new cases on Saturday; two on Sunday; and one today. The Health Department did not update the COVID-19 dashboard on Friday.

Eleven patients are currently hospitalized, up from nine on Thursday; while 466 have recovered, unchanged from Thursday.


No additional deaths were reported by the Health Department today.

To date, 35 Porter County residents have died from COVID-19: four Westchester Township residents; one Liberty Township resident; 17 Portage Township residents; 12 Center Township residents; and one Union Township resident.

Deaths by demographic to date: six 50-59; one 60-69; seven 70-79; 10 80-89; and 11 90-and-over. Fifteen men have died and 20 women.

Long-term Facilities

To date, 96 cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Porter County's long-term care facilities, up from 97 on Thursday.

Twenty-five have died, two are currently hospitalized (one), and 46 have recovered.


Total COVID-19 tests conducted in Porter County as of Sunday, according to the Indiana State Department of Health: 6,451, up from 6,329 on Saturday.

Duneland Cases by Township

*  Westchester: 40 cases (38 on Thursday), four deaths, no hospitalizations, 31 recoveries. Five active cases.

*  Liberty: 25 cases, one death, two hospitalizations, 22 recoveries (21 on Thursday). Two active cases.

*  Jackson: Two cases, no deaths, two recoveries.

*  Pine: Seven cases, no deaths, no hospitalizations, three recoveries. Four active cases.

Other Townships

*  Portage: 243 cases, 17 deaths, three hospitalizations, 196 recoveries (195).

*  Center: 168 cases (164 on Thursday), 12 deaths, five hospitalizations (three), 104 recoveries.

*  Washington: 49 cases, no deaths, no hospitalizations, 48 recoveries.

*  Union: 25 cases (21 on Thursday), one death, no hospitalizations, 22 recoveries.
