Weavers’ Guild will hold its monthly meeting at 10 a.m. on Saturday,
December 10, at the Baugher Center, 100 West Indiana Street, Chesterton.
After Show ’n Tell,
Guild members will compete in a Silent Auction for unique quality home items
including fiber goods. Bidding will work up an appetite for the holiday
about programs, see dunelandweaversguild.org. Meetings are open to the
public and visitors are welcome, including non-weavers and not-yet weavers,
as well as other fiber artists.Ę
Duneland Weaver’s Guild was devoted to the home uses for and wearing of
wool. Margaret Demko, experienced in raising sheep, goats, and alpacas,
described the characteristics of the wool from many breeds and recommended
wools that are the most comfortable to wear. She wore a skirt and top of
felted wool that surprised the Guild by the youthful style and comfort. She
also brought supplies for members to make a felted ball for use in their
clothes dryers. Wool balls are eco-friendly, cut down on drying time, and
eliminate the cost of dryer sheets.
