Duneland Schools report 51 active COVID cases

As of 4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, the Duneland School Corporation (DSC) was reporting 51 active COVID-19 cases among students and staff, up from 46 on Tuesday.

Seven new cases were reported on Wednesday: two Chesterton High School in-person students (33 close contacts); two Chesterton Middle School staffers (no close contacts); two Liberty Intermediate staffers (no close contacts; and one Brummitt Elementary student (no close contacts).

Active cases as of Wednesday afternoon:

-- CHS: 10 (nine on Tuesday).

-- Remote students: 12 (12).

-- Liberty Intermediate: six (four).

-- Yost: two (two).

-- CMS: six (four).

-- Liberty Elementary: one (two).

-- WIS: four (four).

-- Jackson: five (five).

-- Bailly: two (two).

-- Brummitt: two (one)

-- Other: one (one).

Since classes began in August, DSC has reported a total of 164 COVID-19 infections among students and staff (157 on Tuesday).

DSC is urging parents to continue to report their children’s positive test results to the administration.
