Duneland School COVID cases drop to 47

As of 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, the Duneland School Corporation (DSC) was reporting 47 active COVID-19 cases among students and staff, down from 51 on Wednesday.

Eight new cases were reported on Thursday: four Chesterton High School students, two in-person and two remote (65 close contacts total); two Bailly Elementary School staffers (17 close contacts total); one Chesterton Middle School in-person student (11 close contacts); and one transportation staffer (two close contacts).

Active cases as of Thursday afternoon:

-- CHS: 10 (10 on Wednesday).

-- Remote students: 11 (12).

-- Liberty Intermediate: six (six).

-- Yost: one (two).

-- CMS: five (six).

-- Liberty Elementary: one (one).

-- WIS: three (four).

-- Jackson: three (five).

-- Bailly: four (two).

-- Brummitt: two (two)

-- Other: one (one).

Since classes began in August, DSC has reported a total of 172 COVID-19 infections among students and staff (164 on Wednesday).

DSC is urging parents to continue to report their children's positive test results to the administration.
