Depressive and seasonal affective disorders workshop Friday December 9

The tranquil and scenic setting of The Spa Banquet Hall will be the location for a workshop, "Non-traditional Modalities for Treatment Resistant Depressive Disorders, Seasonal Affective Disorder and Winter Blues, presented Friday, Dec. 9, by mental health clinician, Jake Messing, LCSW.

The $30 registration fee includes professional networking opportunities, program materials, a buffet featuring favorite autumnal appetizers, entree' and desserts. Three CEU's will be provided by Indiana University Northwest School of Social Work. There will be a $35 Walk-In Registration fee (however, lunch cannot be guaranteed).

Jake Messing received his Master's in Counseling Psychology from George Williams College in 1979, and his CCSW/LCSW in 1994. Over the past 35 years Messing has worked in a wide variety of Behavioral Health programs; Inpatient, Day Treatment and Outpatient Psychiatric programs, Inpatient and Intensive Outpatient Addictions Treatment programs, and has experience working in private practice. Messing is currently the Program Director, Behavioral Health Services at St. Catherine's Hospital, in East Chicago, Indiana.

The Spa Banquet Hall is located at 333 N. Mineral Springs Road, Porter, IN. Registration is from 10:30-11:00 a.m., then from 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m., presentation and luncheon.

This educational workshop is co-hosted by Northwest Indiana Area Health Education Center, Prompt Ambulance Service, National Association of Social Workers and Indiana University Northwest.
