On Saturday, July
13, the Duneland Business Initiative Group will sponsor the 12th annual Bark
in the Park, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Thomas Centennial Park in downtown
Chesterton.
Contests at Noon
Do you and your
pooch bear a physical resemblance to each other? Can you do a good
Lassie-bark? Does your new dog know some old tricks? Then brush that coat,
and polish those nails and put your best paw forward to vie for valuable
prizes! There are four contests--Best Dressed Dog; Owner-Dog Look Alike;
Best Trick; and Best Human Barkers (adults and kids!) No registration is
necessary, and contests are free to enter. Contest prizes are provided by
Chesterton Feed and Garden and the Duneland Business Initiative Group.
Contests start at Noon by the Bandstand.
Both K-9s and Kidz
will have a blast splashing and looking for the lucky duck in the Duck Hunt
game where every player wins a prize! Stop by the PawCasso booth where your
pooch can paint a masterpiece just for you!
Pet friendly day
This pet-friendly
day in the park includes booths featuring local shelters and regional pet
rescue organizations, specialized pet services in the area, pet merchandise
and treats. AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) testing will be offered by
PetsConnect, along with demonstrations of tricks and obedience, activities
for attendees to do with their dogs, such as a tunnels and jumps. Get a
photo taken with your pet at the Maximus Bolo booth.
K-9 Kooling Zones
will be available--many water bowls will be placed around the park.
A special water
mist area will be available at the southeast corner of the park for
overheated hounds and humans.
There will be
something going on all day, so come on out to the park for some doggone good
fun!
