The GFWC Chesterton Woman’s 61st Annual Art Show will be held June 10
through June 24 at the Chesterton Art Center, 115 S. Fourth St., Chesterton.
Co-chairmen for this year’s show are Helen Petro and Judith Tyler, who are
also in charge of poster distribution. Cover artist for the show is Richard
Church, and Barbara Stroud is in charge of selecting the judges. Other
chairmen are Becky Dunbar, patrons, invitations and mailings; Janice Custer,
catalogue typing and collating and publicity; Louise Roberts, decorations
and name plates for entrants; Clarice Gourley, weekend hostesses; Helen
Sabinske, opening day greeters; Roberts and Marge Habel, opening day
reception; Vickii Brock, registration; and Shirley Peffers, return of
entries.
Rules for this year’s show are as follows: Only original fine arts
(paintings – oil, acrylic, watercolor), drawings, pastels, freestanding
sculpture, stained glass, original hand-pulled prints may be entered. Artist
must be 18 years or older; no classwork or work under the tutelage of an
instructor will be accepted; no pottery, enamel painting, ceramic work,
porcelain or china painting, photography or computer enhanced photography,
weaving or any crafts will be accepted. No copyrighted material will be
accepted; work must be original in concept, design and execution; published
photographs may not be used as references; work previously shown in the
Chesterton Woman’s Club Art Show will not be accepted; and final
interpretation of the status of work will be decided by the Art Show
Committee.
Also, entries must be brought in on Monday, June 4, 2012, from 10 a.m. to 7
p.m. Each artist is allowed one large-sized entry and one smaller size.
Artwork must not exceed three feet by three feet in size, including frame.
No artwork will be accepted or hung unless properly framed and ready to hang
with wire. No saw-tooth hangers are allowed.
Sculptures must be free standing with dimensions limited to three feet by
three feet by four feet with maximum weight of 200 pounds and be of durable
material.
Artwork cannot exceed a value of $5,000 due to insurance regulations.
Entries will be submitted at the owner’s risk, and in no case shall the
Chesterton Woman’s Club or the Association of Artists and Craftsmen of
Porter County be held responsible if damage or loss should occur.
A fee of $15 must accompany the first entry, with an additional $10 fee for
the second entry. Art work must remain in the Art Center throughout the show
(June 4-24).
CWC will receive a 20 percent commission on all sales.
Entries must be called for at the Art Center on Monday, June 25 from 10 a.m.
to 4 p.m. or Tuesday, June 26 from 4 to 7 p.m. Neither the CWC nor the Art
Center will be responsible for work not picked up during these times.
