Two more Porter
County residents have succumbed to COVID-19, the Porter County Health
Department reported after deadline on Tuesday.
Both victims were
Portage Township residents. One was in the 50-59 demographic; the other, in
the 80-89. One resided in a long term care facility (LTCF).
To date, 158 Porter
County residents have lost their lives to COVID-19.
Deaths by township:
in Duneland, 15 Liberty residents; 10 Westchester; and three Jackson.
Outside of Duneland: 66 Center residents; 54 Portage; seven Union; one
Boone; and one Washington; and one Pleasant.
Deaths by age
group: five in the 40-49; 13 in the 50-59; 21 in the 60-69; 35 in the 70-79;
48 in the 80-89; and 36 in the 90-and-over.
In the 29 days
since Monday, Nov. 23, 71 residents have died. In the 15 days since Monday,
Dec. 7, 39 have died.
New Cases
Also on Tuesday,
PCHD reported 128 new COVID-19 cases over the previous 24 hours (89 new
cases on Monday), to bring the total so far to 11,651.
As of Tuesday, PCHD
was putting the 0-19 demographic at 1.6K cases; the 20-29 at 2.1K; the 30-39
at 1.8K; the 40-49 at 1.9K; the 50-59 at 1.8K; and the 60-69 at 1.3K.
The other
demographic totals as of Tuesday: 70-79, 703 cases (699 on Monday); 80-89,
377 cases (373); and 90-and-over, 151 (149).
Hospitalizations
PCHD also reported
29 hospitalizations on Tuesday, up from 27 on Monday. Of Tuesday’s 29
hospitalizations, six were residents of long term care facilities (LTCFs).
LTCFs
Of the new cases
reported on Tuesday, four were residents of a long term care facility, to
bring the total so far to 524, up from 520 on Monday.
Of those 524 LTCF
cases, six were hospitalized on Tuesday, unchanged from Monday; 406 have
recovered, also unchanged from Monday; and 91 have died, up from 90 on
Monday.
As of Tuesday,
there were 27 active COVID-19 cases in Porter County LTCFs, up from 24 on
Monday.

PCHD reported
10,232 recoveries on Tuesday, unchanged from Monday. Total active cases in
Porter County as of Tuesday, after subtracting the 10,232 recoveries and 158
deaths: 1,478, up from 1,352 on Monday.
