COVID19 cases statewide near 6,000; 203 dead

The Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) is reporting this morning 439 new cases of COVID-19, for a total of 5,943, up from 5,507 on Tuesday.

The 439 new cases represent an increase of 8 percent over the last 24 hours.

A total of 203 Hoosier to date has died, up from 139 on Tuesday, an increase of 46 percent over the last 24 hours. Deaths are reported based on when data are received by IDSH and occurred over multiple days.

Meanwhile, 30,869 COVID-19 tests have been conducted, up from 28,764 on Tuesday. Tests are being conducted by IDSH, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and private laboratories.

Marion County had the most new cases, with 151. Other counties with more than 10 new cases were Lake (43), Bartholomew (11), Hamilton (29), Hancock (12), Hendricks (17), Johnson (19), and St. Joseph (13). The Lake County totals include results from East Chicago and Gary, which have their own health departments.
