County Park summer program signups underway

Camp FUNset is now taking registrations at the Porter County Parks Office, at 155 Indiana Ave., Suite #304, Valparaiso, Ind.

Camp FUNset is eight fun-filled weeks of good old fashioned summer camp.

Campers will enjoy such themes as, Amazing Race, Pioneer Days, Game On, Celebrate USA, Create-Art, Wild Water, Super Hero Films and the park’s very own signature Wilderness Camp!

Camps run Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Fee is $80, with limited space available.

Additionally on offer are:

Feeding Time at the Farm -- Saturday, April 20 from 9 to 9:45 a.m. This free program allows children to come to Sunset Hills Farm to meet the goats, chickens and pony and help them get ready for their day.

Go FishIN -- Saturday, April 20 and 27, 1-3 p.m., Free at Brookdale. Learn to tie knots, prepare a hook, proper casting and safety in and around water.

Spring Bird Hike -- Saturday, April 20, 10 Š 11 a.m., at Sunset Hill Farm. Free. Families and groups are invited to take a short hike through Sunset Hill Farm with a naturalist to learn about birds that make the park their home.

Independent Cat Society “Black Cat Strut,” 5K Race and 1K Dog Race, Saturday, April 28 -- at Sunset Hill Farm

Mind-Body Wellness -- Open House at Brincka Cross, Saturday, May 4, 11 Š 3 p.m. Free. This relaxing and educational program will begin with a reception at 11 am followed by blocks of Reiki, gentle stretching, Mandela, chair massage, reflexology, essential oils and silent walks.

Monkey Wrench Madness Mudslide Obstacle Race -- Saturday, May 4, at Sunset Hill Farm, First Heat at 7 a.m.

A 5k foot race with manmade and natural obstacles located on the course to be challenging but fun. Kids course FREE with paid race fee. Great family fun, food and entertainment. A t-shirt, drink and snack are included. Go to
