This coming Sunday, December 11, the Chesterton High School Music Department will be ringing in the season with a festive Holiday Band Concert.

The Jazz Ensemble will open the program with three pieces including a light Latin version of ‘White Christmas’, a swing chart based on the well-known ‘We Three Kings’ entitled ‘Comfort and Joy’, and a version of ‘Sleigh Ride’ from the Glenn Miller tribute album “In the Christmas Mood”.

The Percussion Ensemble will be featured on two selections including a piece entitled “Kings” that includes an ancient form of Japanese drumming known as Taiko.

A single large concert band made up of the members of the CHS Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble will complete the afternoon performances with five traditional holiday favorites in symphonic and traditional musical settings.

The hour-long event begins at 3:00 p.m. in the CHS Gymnasium. The program is open to the public and admission is free.

For additional information about this, or any CHS Music event, contact the CHS Music Dept. at 983-3730.
