CHS grad Michael Masty makes Captain in US Army

Back To Front Page

CHS graduate (Class of 2000) Michael Masty's dream was to enter the Army as an enlisted man (Private) and work his way up through the ranks. This month's Army promotion list shows he has just attained the rank of Captain.

Captain Masty is a 101st Airborne veteran of the Iraq war and is currently in his second deployment with the 4th Infantry Division to Afghanistan, where he commands the Brigade Commander's personal field security detachment.

Masty hopes to return to the States in time to spend Christmas at Fort Carson, Colorado, with his wife Amanda (nee Goulet, also formerly of Chesterton), his son Logan and daughter Ann Marie.

The new Captain is the son of David Masty of Chesterton and Dana Masty of Valparaiso.
