The Chesterton/Porter Rotary Club held a special Wednesday meeting this week to host the Group Study Exchange team from Austria.

Prior to the meeting the group of four young professional women and a Rotarian Team Leader were able to tour Bailey Elementary School, Chesterton High School, the Westchester Museum, and Anton Insurance Agency.

At the Rotary meeting, they gave an informative presentation on Austria for the members.

They even entertained the group with a traditional Austrian yodeling song.

After the meeting, the group was able to visit Washington Park in Michigan City and Prime Outlets Mall for shopping. The evening was spent at either local Rotarian homes or restaurants for dinner.

According to Club President, Brock Lloyd, the Group Study Exchange program is made possible by contributions to The Rotary Foundation, Rotary International's charitable arm. The group is visiting Northern Indiana for a month and will return to Austria and their regular jobs at the end of next week.

The purpose of Group Study Exchange is to promote world peace and understanding. District 6540 will also be sending a team to Austria. Find out more at

The Chesterton-Porter Rotary Club meets every Tuesday at 11:45 a.m. at the Westchester Public Library Service Center.
