Chesterton Fire Department Chaplain Lowell Black featured in book

Back To Front Page

Lowell Black, a Chesterton resident and for the last seven years the Chesterton Fire Department Chaplain, is one of 50 fire-service professionals profiled in a new book to be released on Monday, Oct. 16: American Firefighter by Rizzoli New York (Welcome Books).

Black, an ordained deacon at Chesterton United Methodist Church, has 27 years of fire-service experience.

American Firefighter is a series of written reflections by each profiled subject, accompanied by a photograph by Paul Mobley, one of our nationís most gifted and prominent portrait photographers. Mobley and his crew traveled the U.S. in 2016 to capture the images in book.

A portion of the sales of each book will help support survivors of firefighters who have died in the line-of-duty by the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.

American Firefighter is available to be ordered on-line, or can be purchased at all major book sellers. For more information please contact Jessica Napp at (212) 387-3436 or
