Bruce and Sandy Mannakee have been named Volunteers of the Year by the
Chesterton/Duneland Chamber of Commerce.
Sandy has been a member of United Way’s Board of Directors since 1997. She
has served two terms as Secretary of the Board and has been Allocations
Chair for the past three years. In that capacity, she has supervised the
efforts of over 100 volunteers, who review agency proposals, meet with
agency representatives, conduct site visits and make recommendations for the
final allocations for program services.
Sandy also serves on the Board of the Porter County Prevent Child Abuse
Coalition and is past President of the Board. She has also been a committee
chair with the Sand Creek Homeowners Association. SKM Consulting is a
marketing and design firm established by Sandy.
Bruce currently serves as Chair of the Strengthening Neighborhoods and
Communities United Way allocations panel and has been an allocations
volunteer for several years. Bruce is the founder and CEO of Chicago Steel
Sandy and Bruce are extremely generous philanthropists and support many
charitable causes and local charities, said Bonnie Trout, executive director
of the Chesterton/Duneland Chamber of Commerce. “The have been Leadership
givers for many years with United Way. They give their time, talent, energy
and resources to make the Chesterton/Duneland area the best place to live.”
