Come join a traditional Scandinavian style celebration of summer at Indiana
Dunes National Lakeshore's Chellberg Farm. This year's Midsummer program
will be held on Sunday, June 28 from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m.
Music, dancing and traditional costumes highlight this special event.
Between noon and 1:00 p.m., visitors are invited to bring flowers from home
to take part in the age-old custom of decorating the Maypole. Immediately
following, there will be a musical procession culminating in the raising of
the newly decorated pole.
Traditional Swedish tunes provided by local group, Lingonberry Jam, will add
an air of festivity.
All are invited to join in on the fun and dance with Dans Norden, a group of
traditional Scandinavian folk dancers from Indianapolis. In addition, the
children's dance group, Nordikids, will perform in their colorful costumes.
Traditional Scandinavian games and crafts for the children and
demonstrations of loom weaving, knife making and wood carving will also be
presented.
The Chellberg Farm is located on Mineral Springs Road between Highways U.S.
12 and 20.
