Cancer has touched most of our lives, in some way, shape or form.

Joan Upton, a Porter County resident for twenty years, is currently battling stage 2 breast cancer. Joan, while a part of Supporters of the Military (SOM), has helped organize, pack and ship hundreds of care packages to our troops deployed overseas. She has also taken part in many fundraising events to support her fellow Porter County residents. Now Joan needs our help.

The Stand With Joan Benefit is being organized to raise funds to benefit Joan in her battle. The event will be held on Sunday, June 24, 2018, to help offset her medical expenses during this trying time. A major part of the fundraising effort is selling raffle tickets and seeking donations for silent auction items for the fundraiser. Organizers are asking area residents to give a donation of goods/services and in-kind gifts to be raffled or auctioned to help make this event a tremendous success.

To donate or for more information, contact Wendy Wells (Joan’s daughter) at (312) 722-3833, or email
