The Chesterton-Porter Rotary Club will host the third annual Babapaloosa music festival on August 6, 2017 at Sunset Hill Park in Valparaiso from 1 to 9 p.m.. Funds from the event support the efforts of both the Rotary Club and the See Change Foundation, an initiative founded by Chesterton native Eric Bouchard that works to provide children in rural Nepal with education and other essentials. The Chesterton-Porter Rotary Club supports local initiatives such as scholarships for high school students, maintenance of the ball field at 5th and Porter Ave., in Chesterton, and Rebuilding Together Duneland.

Young singer/songwriter and Chesterton native Jerica Paliga will bring her talents to the stage this year. A winner of the Coors Light/IHeartRadio BIG Break music contest, she identifies her music as “a country/pop mixture of a lot of things, leaning more on the country side. Like in an ‘old Taylor Swift’ kinda way!” Paliga, who is close to releasing her own album, has opened for big name country stars such as Eric Church, and is excited to return home to Chesterton for Babapaloosa. Paliga said, “I love supporting many causes, especially if it involves playing a live show! Can’t wait!!”

The Babapaloosa 2017 band line-up is All Good Things at 1 p.m.; Jerica Paliga at 2:30 p.m.; Township Train Wreck at 4 p.m.; Visions of Santana at 5:30 p.m.; and Corey Dennison at 7 p.m.
