Art Comp Exhibit dropoff dates at the Chesterton Art Center

The Chesterton Art Center is sponsoring Art Comp 2018 for the month of September. The exhibit is open to artists 18 years and older living in Indiana, Illinois, or Michigan.

The Opening Reception will be held September 9, from 2 to 4 p.m., at the Chesterton Art Center. Awards will be presented.

All 2-D and 3-D fine art media will be accepted, including sculpture, glass, oil, acrylic, watercolor, mixed media, photography, pastel, drawing, etc. No vector computer art, or crafts will be accepted. All 3-D work must be sculptural, hand-crafted, or completely unique in design/execution. Work must be no more than two years old. All entries must have an original concept and execution. No copies or prints of paintings, published photographs, or other artist's work. No work done in class or under the tutelage of an instructor is eligible for entry. No wet paintings. No work previously exhibited with the Chesterton Art Center.

The Art Comp juried exhibition includes the following dates: Drop-off dates are Sept. 1 (10 a.m.-2 p.m.), September 4 (11 a.m.-4 p.m.), and Sept. 5 (11 a.m.-7 p.m.). Juror notifications will be September 7. Pick-up for non-selected pieces is Sept. 8 (10 a.m.-2 p.m.).

The exhibit closes on October 3 and pick-up for exhibit pieces is Oct. 4 (11 a.m.-4 p.m.), Oct. 5 (11 a.m.-4 p.m.), and Oct. 6 (10 a.m.-2 p.m.)

2-D works must be either gallery wrapped or framed and ready to hang with wire and eyelets - no saw-tooth hangers. Each piece is not to exceed 4 feet (top, bottom, left, and right). All freestanding sculptures must be ready for installation and not require the artist's presence for handling. The weight limit for 3-D pieces is 100 pounds.

The entry fee to participate is $25 for Chesterton Art Center members and $30 for non-members, which includes 1-2 pieces of artwork. Payment can be cash, checks or credit card payable to, "Chesterton Art Center". For Drop-off day, each artist must come prepared with 1-2 pieces of artwork, a completed entry form, and entry labels.

Works must be delivered to the Chesterton Art Center on Saturday, Sept. 1, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 4, 11 a.m.-4 p.m., or Wednesday, Sept. 5, 11 a.m.-7 p.m. The full prospectus is available at

The exhibit jurors include Lora Fosberg, Exhibit Director at the Lubeznik Center for the Arts, and Gregg Hertzlieb, Director and Curator at the Brauer Museum of Art.
