Another C19 death in Westchester Township

The Porter County Health Department was reporting this morning a third COVID-19 death in Westchester Township.

The victim was a person in the 80-89 demographic. Two other Westchester Township residents have died of COVID-19: one also in the 80-89 demographic, the other in the 50-59.

A Liberty Township resident has died as well: a person in the 80-89 demographic.

Four of the seven COVID-19 fatalities in Porter County have been Dunelanders. The other three: two Portage Township residents, both in the 50-59 demographic; and a Center Township resident, in the 70-79.

Meanwhile, the Health Department was reporting a total of 225 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the county, up from 217 on Friday, an increase of 3.7 percent.

Fifteen patients are currently hospitalized (unchanged from Friday); while 98 are reported to have recovered (87).

Total active cases, after subtracting recoveries and deaths: 120 (122 on Friday).

Total COVID-19 tests conducted in Porter County as of Sunday, according to the Indiana State Department of Health: 1,526 (1,368 on Friday).

Duneland cases by township:

-- Westchester: 17 cases (unchanged from Friday), three deaths (two), two hospitalizations (three), 11 recoveries (nine). Six active cases.

-- Liberty: 12 cases, one death, no hospitalizations, seven recoveries (all unchanged from Friday). Four active cases.

-- Jackson: one case, no hospitalization. One active case.

-- Pine: one case, no hospitalization. One active case.

Other hard hit townships:

-- Portage Township: 90 cases (87 on Friday), two deaths (two), nine hospitalizations (eight), and 42 recoveries (40).

-- Washington: 37 cases (unchanged from Friday), no hospitalizations (none), and four recoveries (one). These 37 cases include the 33 patients at Porter County Jail.

-- Center: 35 cases (33 on Friday), one death (one), four hospitalizations (three), and 16 recoveries (15).
