Dog run and walk added to Bark in the Park

The second annual Bark in the Park this Saturday in Chesterton will include the first annual “5K Run with the Big Dogs” and a one-mile, non-competitive Dog Stroll walk.

Sponsored by the Duneland Business Initiative Group, Bark in the Park will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday in downtown Chesterton. Entrants are encouraged to bring their dogs to run or walk; all dogs must be on a leash.

The run and walk will start and end in the parking lot of the former Wiseway store at 8th and Broadway, winding its way through the streets of downtown Chesterton.

The top three male and female runners in each age group will receive medals. A free T-shirt accompanies each registration (two shirts with a family registration).

Registration is from 6 a.m. to 6:45 a.m. The race will begin at 7 a.m.

The run’s director is Chesterton resident Paul Stofko, who is a fitness specialist and RRCA-certified running coach. He is also director of the annual Crazy Legs 1k+ Trail Run Race www.paulstofko.com
