If you happen to see a film crew out and about in Downtown Chesterton on
Friday, smile.
Janet Davies, host of “190 North”--seen at 10:30 p.m. on Sundays on WLS
Channel 7, Chicago’s ABC affiliate--is coming to Chesterton for an all-day
shoot of some of the businesses, restaurants, and amenities which make the
town such a great place to live.
The segment is scheduled to air at 10:35 p.m. on Sunday, June 28. “190
North” highlights the attractions found in Chicagoland’s suburbs and
communities.
Town Manager Bernie Doyle told the Chesterton Tribune that Davies’
itinerary hasn’t been completely finalized yet, but that she may shoot at
some or all of the following: eateries like Lucrezia at 428 S. Calumet Road,
Peggy Sue’s Diner at 117 S. Calumet, and Tonya’s Patisserie at 321 Broadway;
boutiques like the Fourth Street Emporium at 402 Broadway and Ella’s Bella
at 119 Broadway; the Gray Goose Inn at 350 Indian Boundary Road; and of
course Thomas Centennial Park in the heart of the Downtown and its historic
bandstand. Doyle also said that “190 North” is seeking permission to shoot
at the Coffee Creek Watershed Preserve.
“I want Chicagoans to stop in Chesterton and think of it as a wonderful
playground, close to home,” said Lucrezia owner Nada Karas. “We have an
eclectic town that features the European Market, the Car Cruise, festivals
and events in the park, award-winning restaurants, a variety of shops,
bed-and-breakfasts, and the breathtaking Indiana Dunes.”
Doyle agreed. “You can’t pay for this level of quality advertising to
showcase our unique community,” he said. “Chesterton is a wonderful place
not only to live but to visit and we’re very pleased and honored that WLS
has decided to come to our town.”
“We’ve always known that Chesterton is more than just a fast-food stop on
the drive from Chicago to Michigan,” said Town Council President Emerson
DeLaney, R-5th. “Chesterton is a destination itself and we’re very proud
that Janet Davies and WLS are highlighting our special community for their
Chicago viewers. We have so much to offer, from the charm of our Downtown
and its festivals and bistros, to the offerings of our shops, to the beauty
of the Dunes and Lake Michigan.”
