44 active virus cases in Duneland Schools

The number of active COVID-19 cases downticked over the weekend in the Duneland Schools, the Duneland School Corporation (DSC) is reporting.

As of 8:08 a.m today, DSC was reporting a total of 44 active cases, down from 46 on Friday.

Ten new cases were reported over the weekend: one each at Jackson Elementary, Westchester Intermediate, and Chesterton High School on Friday (18 close contacts total); one each at Bailly Elementary and Brummitt Elementary on Saturday (five close contacts); one each at Yost Elementary, Jackson Elementary, CHS on Sunday, and Liberty Intermediate on Sunday (31 close contacts); and one at Liberty Intermediate this morning (one close contact).

Active cases as of Sunday afternoon:

-- CHS: 10 (eight on Friday).

-- Remote students: nine (14 on Friday).

-- Liberty Intermediate: four (four on Friday).

-- Yost: two (two on Friday).

-- CMS: four (five on Friday).

-- Liberty Elementary: three (four on Friday).

-- WIS: three (three on Friday).

-- Jackson: four (two on Friday).

-- Bailly: one (none on Friday).

-- Brummitt: two (one on Friday)

-- Other: two (three on Friday).

Since schools opened in August, DSC has reported a total of 145 COVID-19 infections among students and staff.
