40 active cases in Duneland Schools

COVID-19 recoveries outpaced new cases in the Duneland Schools on Tuesday, the Duneland School Corporation (DSC) is reporting.

As of 4:15 p.m. Tuesday, DSC was reporting a total of 40 active cases, down from 42 on Monday.

Still, five new cases were diagnosed on Tuesday: two at Chesterton High School (21 close contacts); one at Chesterton Middle School (20 close contacts); one at Westchester Intermediate (one close contact); and one at Liberty Intermediate: (no close contacts).

Active cases as of late Tuesday afternoon:

*  CHS: eight (13 on Monday).

*  Remote students: 10 (eight on Monday).

*  Liberty Intermediate: five (four on Monday).

*  Yost Elementary: three (four on Monday).

*  Chesterton Middle School: six (five on Monday).

*  Liberty Elementary: two (four on Monday).

*  Westchester Intermediate: three (two on Monday).

*  Jackson Elementary two (none).

*  Other: one (none).

Since schools opened in August, DSC has reported a total of 120 COVID-19 infections.
