17 new C19 cases in county

The Porter County Health Department was reporting this morning a total of 242 COVID-19 cases in the county, up from 225 on Monday, an increase of 17 cases or nearly 8 percent in the last 24 hours.

Sixteen patients are currently hospitalized, up from 15 on Monday; while 109 have recovered, up from 98, an increase of 11 percent.

No new deaths were reported. To date seven people have died of COVID-19 in Porter County, four of them Dunelanders.

Total active cases, after subtracting recoveries and deaths: 126 (120 on Monday).

Total COVID-19 tests conducted in Porter County as of Monday, according to the Indiana State Department of Health: 1,552 (1,526 on Sunday).

Duneland cases by township:

-- Westchester: 20 cases (17 on Monday), three deaths (three), two hospitalizations (two), 11 recoveries (11). Six active cases.

-- Liberty: 12 cases (12 on Monday), one death (one), no hospitalizations (none), eight recoveries (seven). Three active cases.

-- Jackson: one case. One active case.

-- Pine: one case. One active case.

Other hard hit townships:

-- Portage Township: 92 cases (90 on Monday), two deaths (two), nine hospitalizations (nine), and 49 recoveries (42).

-- Washington: 42 cases (37 on Monday), one hospitalization (none), and four recoveries (four). These 42 cases include the 40 patients at Porter County Jail.

-- Center: 39 cases (35 on Monday), one death (one), four hospitalizations (four), and 18 recoveries (16).

-- Union: 14 cases (12 on Monday) and eight recoveries (seven).
