The Porter County
Health Department was reporting today 16 new cases of COVID-19 over the last
24 hours (16 new cases on Tuesday), to bring the total so far to 1,112, up
from 1,096 on Tuesday.
Of those 16 new
cases, 11--or 69 percent--were diagnosed among the younger demographics:
four in the 0-19 (118 total); four in the 20-29 (219 total); one in the
30-39 (173 total); and two in the 40-49 (177 total).
To date, COVID-19
has been diagnosed in 118 children or teens in Porter County, or 10.6
percent of all cases (10.4 percent of all cases on Tuesday). When the Chesterton
Tribune first began tracking COVID-19 cases in the younger demographics,
on June 30, the 0-19 group accounted for 37 of the 715 total cases at the
time, or 5.2 percent.

To date, 101 cases
of COVID-19 have been reported in Porter County’s long-term care facilities,

unchanged from Tuesday.

The Indiana State
Department of Health (ISDH) was reporting this morning 630 new cases of
COVID-19 over the last 24 hours (809 on Tuesday), to bring the total so far
to 64,299, up from 63,678 on Tuesday.
ISDH was also
reporting eight additional COVID-19 deaths over the last 24 hours (18
additional deaths on Tuesday), to bring the total to date to 2,938, up from
2,930 on Tuesday.

Marion County has
the most reported cases, 14,096 (13,954 on Tuesday); and the most deaths,
714 (713). Lake County has reported 6,821 cases (6,791) and 266 deaths
(266), the second highest in the state in both categories. LaPorte County
has reported 770 cases and 29 deaths (770 and 29).
The total COVID-19
death count includes both confirmed and presumptive deaths to date.
Presumptive deaths are those for which x-ray, scans, and clinical symptoms
all point to COVID-19 but for which no positive test is on record. A total
of 199 presumptive deaths was reported today, unchanged from Tuesday.
