The Duneland Business Initiative Group will be sponsoring the 11th annual Bark in the Bark, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 14, in Thomas Centennial Park in Downtown Chesterton.

Do you and your pooch bear a physical resemblance to each other? Can you do a good Lassie-bark? Does your new dog know some old tricks? Then brush that coat, polish those nails, and put your best paw forward to vie for valuable prizes.

There will be four Contests: Best Dressed Dog; Owner-Dog Look Alike; Best Trick; and Best Human Barkers (adults and kids). No registration is necessary and contests are free to enter.

Contest prizes are provided by Chesterton Feed and Garden and the Duneland Business Initiative group. Contests start at 12 p.m. by the Bandstand.

Both K-9s and kids will have a blast splashing and looking for the lucky duck in the Duck Hunt game where every player wins a prize.

And you’ve got to stop by the PawCasso booth where your pooch can paint a masterpiece just for you.

Enjoy your pet-friendly day in the park as you visit booths featuring local shelters, regional pet rescue organizations, specialized pet services in the area, and pet merchandise and treats.

Micro-chipping will be done at the event by Guardians of the Green Mile pet rescue.

Get your photo taken with your pet at the Maximus Bolo booth.

Hempworx will be providing the latest info on CBD oil use with pets.

K-9 Cooling Zone: many water bowls will be placed around the park. A special water mist area will be available at the southeast corner of the park for overheated hounds and humans.

There will always be something going on, so come on out to the park for some doggone good fun!
