The Porter County
Health Department was reporting this morning 10 new COVID-19 cases over the
last 24 hours (11 new cases on Monday), to bring the total so far to 715, up
from 705 on Monday.
Over the last six
days--Thursday, June 25, through today--the Health Department has reported
65 new cases, an increase of 10 percent.
Of the 10 new cases
reported today, six are in the younger demographics: two in 0-19 (37 total);
one in 20-29 (123 total); and three in 40-49 (total). Total cases to date in
the 30-39: 123. Fifty-five percent of all COVID-19 cases reported in Porter
County to date are in demographics younger than 50-59.
Four patients are
currently hospitalized, up from two on Monday; while 581 have recovered, up
from 559 on Monday.
As of Monday, the
Indiana State Department of Health was reporting 9,338 COVID-19 tests in
Porter County, with a positivity rate of 7.2 percent, which compares
favorably to the state's own positivity rate of 9.5 percent. The lower the
positivity rate, the more extensive a community's testing program is. It's
important to note that the 65 new COVID-19 cases in Porter County over the
last six days have not been accompanied by any significant increase in
hospitalizations. Although hospitalizations rose today to four, for the last
week the number has been steady at two.
deaths were reported today. Thirty-seven Porter County residents so far have
died of COVID-19.
To date, 101 cases
of COVID-19 have been reported in Porter County's long-term care facilities,
while 26 patients have died and one is currently hospitalized, all unchanged
from Monday. Sixty-nine have recovered, up from 64 on Monday.

The Indiana State
Department of Health (ISDH) was reporting this morning 385 new cases of
COVID-19 over the last 24 hours (312 cases on Monday), to bring total cases
so far to 45,594, up from 45,228 on Monday.
ISDH was also
reporting today an additional 16 deaths over the last 24 hours (an
additional five deaths on Monday), to bring total deaths so far to 2,643, up
from 2,627 on Monday.
Nursing home cases
and deaths to date: 5,342 cases and 1,166 deaths (unchanged from Monday).
Marion County has
the most reported cases, 11,329 (11,279 on Monday); and the most deaths, 679
(677). Lake County has reported 4,847cases (4,781) and 239 deaths (239), the
second highest in the state in both categories. LaPorte County has reported
534 cases and 25 deaths (522 and 25).
The total COVID-19
death count includes both confirmed and presumptive deaths to date.
Presumptive deaths are those for which x-ray, scans, and clinical symptoms
all point to COVID-19 but for which no positive test is on record. A total
of 192 presumptive deaths was reported today, unchanged from Monday.
