Chesterton High School Class of 1947 met on a recent October weekend for its
55th reunion.
Fifteen classmates and 19 guests attended the reception at Committee
Chairman Bob and Becky Dunbar’s house. Teachers Mary and Jim Dold were
present for awhile.
On Saturday, classmates and guests toured the new high school. All were
impressed.
That evening, 36 classmates and 22 guests and teacher, Alice (Becker)
Behrendt attended the banquet at Sand Creek Country Club. Bob Dunbar
welcomed everyone and Jane (Bates) Carlson gave the Prayer. Following
dinner, Corrine (Peterson) Peterson, Janet (Bates) Carlson and Lucille
(Anderson) Neiderkiser conducted a candle light devotional in memory of
departed classmates.
I. Jo (Saidla) Summers introduced each classmate and asked each to introduce
his or her guest and to share memories. Bob Dunbar asked all Veterans to
stand and be recognized. Bill Sievert gave a tribute to the teachers.
Classmates voted to have the next Class of 1947 reunion in three years.
On Sunday 28 classmates and 17 guests attended breakfast at the Hilton
Garden Inn.
Classmates attended from Canada, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida,
Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Nevada and New York.
