CHS class of 1947 celebrates 60th class reunion

Chesterton High School class of 1947 had its 60th class reunion on Oct. 12, 13 and 14.

A reception was held at the home of Bob and Becky Dunbar on Friday evening. Sand Creek Club was the site of the 60th Reunion Banquet on Saturday and on Sunday morning a farewell brunch was served at the Hilton Garden.

The week-end was special to all who were there, especially since three teachers joined the classmates Saturday evening. Mary Dold, Dottie Hageman and Alice Behrendt were welcomed by the class. As part of the program, the class paid tribute to 19 classmates who have passed away.

From now on there will be an annual luncheon each year. On Oct. 18, 2008, it will be at the Hilton Garden. Committee members of the reunion weekend were Corrine Peterson, I. Jo Summers, Dolores Slater, Mary Kamaski, Inez Zane, Art Studebaker, Bill Meyer, Bill Sievert and Bob Dunbar.

Among those attending were Eleanor (Dockim) Walters, Dolores (Wiseman) Slater, Inez (Westergren) Zane, I Jo (Saidla) Summers and Dorothy (Turner) Peterson. Pauline (Billhorn) Ahlgrim, Mary Eileen (Bishop) Coleman, Dolores (Peterson) Tight, Corinne (Peterson) Peterson, Mary (Ray) Kamaski, Martha (Michaels) Bobrowski, Janet (Reling) Campbell, Norrita (Weidman) Kistler, Bertha (Rhed) Still, Janet (Bates) Carlson and Dolores (Swoverland) White.
