GARY, Ind. (AP) — The Indiana Toll Road’s toll collectors have voted to be
represented by the Teamsters union.
Highway operator Indiana Toll Road Concession Co. LLC said Friday the vote
was 108-103. Eighteen employees did not vote. The company said it would
respect the vote and meet its legal obligation to bargain with the union.
ITR Concession beat back one Teamster effort earlier this year when road
maintenance workers voted 62-42 against the union.
The union says toll collectors it has organized in other states make an
average of nearly $21 an hour. IRT Concession pays between $10 and $14 an
hour.
