The Sand Creek Country Club has a new owner.

On Oct. 14, SCCC was acquired by Concert Golf Partners (CGP) from the Lake Erie Land Company, a subsidiary of NiSource.

CGP did not disclose the terms of transaction.

“Concert Golf is pleased to announce that Sand Creek is debt-free and there will never be assessments imposed on the membership,” CGP said. “Concert Golf is launching numerous capital projects at the club that were developed in consultation with the membership, including pool area upgrades and new informal dining facilities. New membership opportunities for golf and other categories are now being offered at the club.”

“Built in the 1970s by Bethlehem Steel, Sand Creek Country Club has a rich tradition as a family-friendly retreat with a full range of amenities and activities,” CGP noted. “The 27-hole golf course, designed by Ken Killian and Dick Nugent, is ranked in the Top 10 courses in Indiana, and has hosted U.S. Open qualifying events and numerous Indiana state amateur events. The club boasts a wedding pavilion, a popular swim center, five tennis courts, pitch and putt course, soccer field and state-of-the art fitness facilities. Sand Creek members enjoy a number of annual traditions and celebrations, with an impressive 50,000 square foot clubhouse and banquet facility that offers a variety of indoor and outdoor seating.”

“It is really a pleasure dealing the Concert Golf as a buyer of large-scale private clubs like Sand Creek,” said Jeff Woolson of CBRE, which handled the transaction for NiSource. “Their experience with other quality clubs bodes well for the future of Sand Creek and its members.”

“We are thrilled to welcome Sand Creek Country Club into our family of upscale clubs and to play a role in the future of this wonderful, family-friendly club with a top-notch golf course,” CGP CEO Peter Nanula said. “We have already begun the planning of our immediate capital improvement projects. Sand Creek Country Club has an active, engaged membership who will now enjoy a well-capitalized and professionally operated future as one of the finest clubs in Indiana--with reciprocal playing privileges at our other fine clubs.”

“With new commitment to the stability, growth, and long term success of the club and surrounding community, all of us involved in operations are enthusiastic and excited about the future of this great club,” SCCC General Manager Mike Misheck said. “One important reason for our enthusiasm is the great leadership and team of professionals that Concert Golf Partners brings to the club. By combining the Concert expertise and experience, we will provide our members and their guests with the best possible club experience for years to come. We look forward to building on the Sand Creek history, and to reinforce the image and reputation of Sand Creek as the premier family club in Northwest Indiana, and one of the top clubs in the Midwest.”
