Rick Urschel succeeds Bob Urschel as president and CEO

Urschel Laboratories Inc. has announced the appointment by the Board of Directors of Rick Urschel to president/CEO, effective on Friday, Sept. 13.

Rick Urschel was serving as vice president of operations.

Bob Urschel, who has served as president/CEO for the past 30 years, will remain actively involved with the company as chairman of the board.

“As I pass the leadership of the company on to Rick, I am fully confident in his abilities as the new president and CEO of Urschel Laboratories,” Bob Urschel said in a statement released on Friday.

Rick Urschel, fourth generation of the Urschel family, started working at Urschel in 1991. With a management degree from Purdue University, full working knowledge of every department within the company, and a passion for technology, he embraces the legacy of carrying on in the footsteps of the Urschel family of innovators.

One of the few privately held, family-run U.S. manufacturing companies, Urschel Laboratories Inc. is the global leader in food cutting technology. Founded in Valparaiso in 1910, by William Urschel, the company recently acquired approximately 160 acres at Coffee Creek Center in the Town of Chesterton and is in the process of constructing what will become its new manufacturing and global headquarters.
