On Tuesday, Porter Health Care System CEO Jonathan S. Nalli announced he will be leaving Porter at the end of January to accept a new position as president and CEO at St. Vincent Health in Indianapolis.

St. Vincent Health Board of Directors issued a statement Tuesday publicly announcing that Nalli will begin on Feb. 1.

St.Vincent Health is a 22-hospital system, and one of the largest employers that serves central and southern Indiana. The 132-year-old health system is comprised of quaternary facilities, tertiary and critical access hospitals, specialty centers and a multi-specialty physician group.

In addition, the faith-based health provider delivers high quality care in service areas such as cardiovascular, women’s health, pediatrics, neurosciences, cancer care, orthopedics, bariatrics and trauma.

Since 2007, Nalli served as CEO of Porter Health System, a Community Health Systems (CHS) affiliate in Valparaiso. He led the strategic and operational direction of two hospitals, six outpatient centers and an array of physician practices.

At Porter Health System, Nalli oversaw construction of a 238-bed replacement regional hospital, generated net revenue of $310 million, developed a multi-specialty physician group of primary care and surgical providers, and led the hospital to its first recognition as a Best Place to Work from 2011-2013 by the Northwest Indiana Business Quarterly.

“As a proven healthcare executive with vast experience in growth management strategies, improvement plans and demonstrable results in achieving business objectives, we look forward to Jonathan leading the transformation of our business and building on the successes of our ministry,” said Vincent C. Caponi, executive chairman of the board for St. Vincent Health.

Prior to Porter Health, Nalli was chief operating officer of Chestnut Hill Health System in Philadelphia for two years. In addition, he served as chief operating officer of Pottstown Memorial Medical Center in Pottstown, Pa.

Nalli earned his MBA from Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pa., and his Bachelors of Health Sciences in Health Administration from the University of Kentucky. He serves as the chair-elect for the Porter County Community Foundation and chair of the Greater Valparaiso Chamber of Commerce.

Nalli is a board member for the Indiana Hospital Association, One Region-One Vision, Empower Porter County and the Portage Economic Development Corporation.
