Bob Capehart wins Chamber's Golden Achievement Award

The Duneland Chamber of Commerce has presented its prestigious Golden Achievement Award this year to a man whose e-mail motto says a lot about why in fact he was chosen to be honored: “Retired from Work but Not from Life.”

That man: Bob Capehart.

The Golden Achievement Award honors an outstanding senior who resides in Duneland and who has demonstrated a substantial commitment to developing the community through personal service and leadership. As presenter Jeff Fleming noted, Capehart has dedicated innumerable volunteer hours to the Duneland YMCA, the Duneland Exchange Club, and to the Chamber itself.

“During his many years with the aforementioned organizations, Bob has worked to fundraise and volunteer his hours for so many important initiatives,” Fleming said. “He is always willing to help and even take on leadership roles.”

Besides serving on the boards of the Y, the Exchange Club, and the Chamber, Capehart has also chaired the Chamber’s Dawn of Duneland speed networking initiative and the Ambassador Committee.

“Bob is the type of person who is so involved that you think the man has been recognized with countless awards, but that isn’t the case,” Fleming said. “Bob was recognized many years ago as our Volunteer of the Year, but the amount of projects he has seen come and go, along with his own blood, sweat, and maybe even tears on those projects are too many to count.”
