After more than 25
years in Gary, the St.Cloud, Minn.-based Anderson Trucking Service (ATS) is
moving its Indiana maintenance facility to the Town of Porter.
In June, the
third-generation, family-owned company broke ground on a 30-acre parcel near
the I-94/U.S. Highway 20 interchange, and is expected to move into the
facility in early 2021.
36,000-square foot world-class maintenance facility is not only 14,000
square feet bigger than the current setup, all onsite operations will be
combined into one building, as opposed to the three they’re currently in,”
ATS said in a statement released today. “Its driver lounges will feature
showers, washers and dryers, big screen televisions, and more, and it will
have onsite training for new drivers, with plans to add a driving simulator.
It also has room to park more than 150 tractors and trailers, 50 percent
more than their existing facility. While the current terminal will occupy 15
of the 30 acres, ATS has the extra property to provide an option to expand
in the future, if needed.”
"As we continue to
grow as a company, we want to make sure the driver experience grows with
it,” ATS President and COO Brent Anderson said. “This facility not only
allows us to provide drivers a world-class experience when they’re in for
maintenance, but a world-class training experience as well. We’re also
excited to give our technicians a new facility that’s safer and more
efficient for the type of work they’re doing.”
The larger facility
will also create room for more mechanics, parts, and shop supervisory
positions. Nearly 20 employees will be making the move to Porter. ATS is
also hiring experienced Class A over-the-road (OTR) drivers for its enclosed
van, open-deck specialized, and heavy haul fleets.
Founded in 1955 and
headquartered in St. Cloud, Minn., ATS is a recognized leader in flatbed,
specialized, logistics, van, and international transportation. With offices
located throughout the U.S., ATS is the largest truckload carrier in
Minnesota and the 33rd largest for-hire carrier in North America, operating
more than 2,700 tractors and 7,100 trailers.
