CHICAGO (AP) — Ford Motor Co. says building the next generation of the Ford
Explorer SUV will bring 1,200 new jobs to its Chicago assembly plant and a
nearby stamping plant.
The new work means a second shift at the assembly plant on the city’s far
South Side.
Gov. Pat Quinn and Ford officials are at the plant for Tuesday’s
announcement.
Ford says it’s investing $400 million in its Chicago manufacturing
facilities to make the more fuel efficient Explorer.
